QATAR SEAPORTS ENJOY THE LARGEST TRADE SHARE

Qatar seaports (Mwani Qatar) witness a substantial economic, commercial activity, providing the largest share of most of the raw materials and goods that meet the needs of all the economic sectors in the country.

In Mesaieed port, 159 ships have berthed, counting to 42% of the total number of ships hosted by Qatar ports, with a capacity of 2207029 tons, whereas in Haloul port, there were seven (7) birthing ships, with a capacity of 716428 tons. In addition, the number of ships in Doha port reached seven (7) ships with a capacity of 34909 tons. As for Al Ruwais port, it hosted 57 ships with a capacity of 10745 tons, and Hamad port hosted 145 ships with a capacity of 1086562 tons.

Regarding the statistics of the first quarter of 2017, the value of the total amount of Qatari exports has reached around 60.7 billion QR, with an increase of 7% compared to the last quarter of 2016, and 16.7% compared to the first quarter of 2016. In addition, the value of April exports has reached 19 billion QR, making a total of 80 billion QR in four months.

According to a report of the Ministry of Development, Planning and Statistics (MDPS), Qatar’s trade surplus has reached 33.2 billion QR in the first quarter of 2017, hitting a high record of 5.1 billion QR, with an increase of 18.1% compared to the last quarter of 2016, and of 12.2 billion QR approximately, with an increase of 58% compared to the first quarter of 2016.
