Qatar, ESCWA Sign Memorandum of Cooperation

Doha, Qatar and the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA) signed a memorandum of cooperation on the sidelines of the commission’s 29th ministerial session, which concludes Thursday in Doha under the theme of implementing the 2030 sustainable development plan in Arab countries.

Ambassador Tariq bin Ali Al Ansari, director of the Foreign Ministry’s Department of International Cooperation, signed on behalf of Qatar, while ESCWA Deputy Executive Secretary Abdallah Al Dardari represented the commission. HE Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Sultan bin Saad Al Muraikhi was present during the signing along with ESCWA Executive Secretary Rima Khalaf.

The memorandum aims to achieve mutual benefit between the two sides in the fields of support, cooperation, technical consultations, and the exchange of expertise in economic and social areas as well as sustainable development and other goals related to the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development in a reflection of Qatar’s efforts as the current president of ESCWA for the next two years.
