Pakistan: Trade exchange with Kuwait hit USD 2.2 bln in 2015

KUWAIT, May 30 (KUNA) — The volume of trade exchange with Kuwait reached about USD 2.2 billion in 2015, mainly oil products, said Pakistani Ambassador to Kuwait Ghulam Dastgir on Monday.
Dastgir made the statement to KUNA on the sidelines of a visit by a Pakistan’s delegation to Kuwait Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI).
He stressed the deep-rooted diplomatic relations between the two countries, indicating that he is giving a top priority to developing these relations, mainly the areas of economy and investment.
Ties could be also promoted by sharing visits, increasing trade exchange and organizing exhibitions to showcase different products, the ambassador, who has been recently appointed, said.
He referred that there are efforts exerted by Foreign Ministries of the two states aiming to remove obstacles to develop economic ties.
Meanwhile, Fahad Al-Jawaan, a member of KCCI, said in a statement to reporters that the non-oil trade exchange hit about KD 172 million, adding that this is the aspired levels regarding bilateral relations.
Kuwait exports petrochemical products pertaining to manufacture of plastic to Pakistan, he noted.
Al-Jawaan affirmed the importance of sharing visits of economic delegations and organizing exhibitions between the two sides. (end)
