OIC concerned over violence in Iraq

JEDDAH, May 31 (KUNA) — The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) voiced its deep concern over the ongoing action in Iraq, where innocent civilians are killed or displaced due to Fallujah’s “liberating war”.
OIC Secretary-General Iyad Ameen Madani asserted in a statement on Tuesday that the organization supports and stands side by side with Iraq in its war against the so-called Islamic State (IS).
Madani mentioned what came in Makkah Document, where the sanctity of all Muslims’ life and property and honor was declared, and any crime committed on sectarian grounds is corruption on earth where God forbids and prohibits, and where all Muslims should assist the oppressed against the oppressor.
Therefore, it urged the release of all innocent persons that were abducted, and hostages taken from Muslims and non-Muslims and the return of displaced persons to their original homes.
Makkah Document was signed in 2006 by representatives from different segments of Iraqi people under the patronage of the OIC aiming to stop the bloodshed and the ongoing sectarian war in Iraq. (end) nh.mys
