MINISTRY URGES PRIVATE SECTOR TO REDUCE WORKING HOURS TO SIX DURING RAMADAN

Doha – The Ministry of Administrative Development, Labor and Social Affairs has urged the private sector to reduce working hours to 6 hours per day during the holy month of Ramadan, in application of the provisions of the labor law.

In a press release today, the ministry stressed its supervisory role of the degree of the commitment of private sector companies and institutions to implementing the instructions related to reduced working hours during the holy month of Ramadan, adding that the inspectors of the Ministry will conduct field visits to work sites and companies to ensure their adherence to the application of the provisions.

The Ministry of Administrative Development, Labor and Social Affairs called on companies not to violate the legal provisions, and said that legal action will be taken in the event of finding irregularities.

It pointed out that it will receive complaints from employees of companies that are not committed to implementing the provisions of law through its various communication channels including its hotline service.
