Luis Enrique to Step Down As Barcelona Coach

Barcelona, – Luis Enrique has confirmed he will leave his position as Barcelona manager at the end of the season, saying that he “needs a rest.” In his third season with the Catalan giants, Enrique has won La Liga twice, Copa del Rey twice and Champions League once.

“I won’t be at Barcelona next season. I need to rest,” the 46-year-old was speaking after watching his side condemn Sporting Gijon to a 6-1 defeat and temporarily take La Liga top spot.

“I would like to thank the club for the confidence they have shown in me, it’s been three unforgettable years.

“It is a difficult, measured and well thought-out decision and I think I have to be loyal to what I think,” he added.

Barcelona also remain in the hunt for a third successive Copa del Rey title after reaching the final but they carry a heavy four-goal deficit to the second leg of their Champions League last 16 tie against Paris Saint-Germain. (QNA)
