KUWAIT, May 3 (KUNA) — The Kuwait-based volunteering group Loyac has concluded an impressive project to promote peace and tolerance through art.
“Peace of Art project emphasizes the humanity of Kuwaitis under the leadership of the Humanitarian Leader, His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah,” National Assembly Speaker Marzouq Al-Ghanim said at the closing ceremony held Tuesday under his patronage.
“Loyac offers a model to the admired social responsibility role which other institutions have to follow.” Al-Ghanim wished Loyac success in all its initiatives and projects, adding that he came to thank youth who volunteered for such a great goal.
The idea of the project, launched several months ago, is to use art, especially painting on empty oil barrels, to promote peace and raise society, particularly youth, awareness about tolerance, peaceful co-existence and constructive dialogue.
Meanwhile, Minister of Information and Minister of State for Youth Affairs Sheikh Salman Al-Sabah said that Loyac plays a remarkable social and humanitarian role in Kuwait.
This a youth-focused and oriented organization, he said, adding that the Ministry of Youth Affairs is eager to support all youth initiatives, the minister said.
He hoped the Arab world would have a brighter future free from terrorism, wars and disputes.
For her part, Loyac Chairperson and Managing Director Fareah Al Saqqaf lamented that the Arab world has been recently plagued by a spiral sectarianism, extremism and terrorism.
“Such dangers are so close to us and have inflicted us last year,” she said referring to the terrorist attack that target a mosque in Kuwait city last year and left 26 worshipers dead and over 200 injured.
She went on to say that “We are not politicians or decision makers who have enough leverage to stop such inhuman wars, but we can act in our circles to safeguard humanity.” LOYAC is a nonprofit organization working towards the overall development of the youth. It designs and develops many programs to facilitate the professional development and personal growth of the youth, ages six to 30. (end) akw.ibi
