Libyan conf. affirms commitment to reconciliation process

DOHA, May 3 (KUNA) — Participants in the second Libyan national reconciliation conference adopted on Tuesday a declaration affirming commitment to the quest for national unity involving the broad political spectrum in the country.
They called on all Libyan political forces inside and outside the country to join the reconciliation process and renounce violence as a means of achieving partisan gains.
They also called for halting the media campaign meant to instigate hatred and discord among the people.
They also called for building a national independent authority for coordinating the reconciliation efforts and supervising the return of Libyan refugees or internationally-displaced people to their homes.
The two-day conference gathered 80 public figures representing the various cities and tribes from across the country. (end)
