Libya requests EU support for training coast guard

BRUSSELS, May 22 (KUNA) — EU High Representative Federica Mogherini disclosed Sunday that Libya Prime Minister Fayaz Al Sarraj has written to her to request rapid EU support to the training of the Libyan Navy and Coast Guard, as well as the security service.
“This is an important development that I will discuss with Ministers at tomorrow’s meeting of the Foreign Affairs Council with a view to making this operational as soon as possible,” she said in a short statement.
Mogherini noted that she took part in the “useful talks” last Monday in Vienna, Austria, to discuss an array of issues relating to Libya. (end)
