TOKYO, May 9 (KUNA) — Kuwait’s Ambassador to Japan Abdulrahman Al-Otaibi highlighted His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah’s impending visit to Japan on May 11-13, saying the visit will serve to boost bilateral ties.
In a statement to KUNA on Monday, Al-Otaibi noted that His Highness the Prime Minister’s visit to Japan, his first since ascending to the post, is the latest in an exchange of high profile visits between both nations.
Al-Otaibi said that Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe’s visit to Kuwait in August 2013 yielded positive results, as it produced increased cultural and political cooperation between both countries.
“Ever since the inception of diplomatic ties between Kuwait and Tokyo, bilateral ties have come a long way,” Al-Otaibi noted.
Kuwait’s Ambassador to Tokyo also said that both countries have signed a myriad of agreements in a host of realms, including political, environmental, educational and touristic ones. These agreements are a testament to Kuwait’s willingness to benefit from Japan’s expertise, he added.
Moreover, Al-Otaibi revealed that the visit will also feature an economic forum organized by Kuwait, with the aim of familiarizing Japanese companies with investment opportunities available in Kuwait.
“This is the dawn of a brighter future for bilateral ties,” Al-Otaibi said.
His Highness the Prime Minister’s anticipated visit to Japan comes as part of an extensive Asian tour that also took him to Bangladesh and Vietnam. (end) mk.nam
