TUNIS, May 18 (KUNA) — Kuwait and Tunisia on Thursday signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on social and labor affairs, a move set to facilitate the exchange of knowledge and expertise amongst officials of both nations.
Minister of Social Affairs and Labor and Minister of State for Planning Affairs and Development Hind Al- Sabeeh signed the MoU along with her Tunisian counterpart Mahmoud bin Ramadan, in the presence of several officials from both countries.
Moreover, the MoU also encompasses efforts to better serve those with special needs, through a number of programs aimed at assimilating them into society.
In addition, the MoU also states that a joint Kuwaiti and Tunisian team, expected to meet at least once a year, has been formed to look over planned development and investment projects in both nations.
We have agreed to exchange expertise and knowledge in all fields germane to social affairs, Al-Sabeeh noted in a press statement during the signing of the MoU. Kuwait stands to gain from the exceptional skill of the Tunisian workforce, she added.
Meanwhile, the Tunisian Minister of Social Affairs underscored the significance of Al-Sabeeh’s visit to the North African nation, “saying it serves to further enhance bilateral ties.” Speaking on the MoU, Ramadan added that it “would pave the way for further social development.” Kuwait and Tunisia had previously signed an MoU on social affairs in 1996, which yielded a series of joint workshops that allowed for greater interaction between both nations.
