AMMAN, May 5 (KUNA) — Minister of Information and Minister of State for Youth Affairs Sheikh Salman Sabah Al-Salem Al-Humoud Al-Sabah said Thursday that the State of Kuwait and the Kingdom of Jordan share the desire to strengthen their already deep-rooted relationship.
Sheikh Salman, leading a cultural and media delegation arrived here on a visit to Jordan before proceeding to the West Bank to take part in the Palestinian International Book Fair to be held in Ramallah city on May 8-17 under auspices of Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas.
“The Kuwaiti-Jordanian ties grew remarkably in the recent years thanks to the wise leadership of His Highness the Amir of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and Jordanian King Abdullah II,” the minister said in statements to KUNA and Kuwait TV.
He lauded as fruitful the cooperation between the two countries in all fields, including the cultural and media domain, and thanked Jordanian Minister of State for Media Affairs and Communication Mohammad Al-Mo’mani for the warm reception and hospitality.
On the Palestinian book fair, Sheikh Salman said Kuwait, as guest of honor at the event, sent a large delegation made of cultural and media celebrities out of keenness on cooperation with, and support to, the brotherly people of Palestine.
“We seek to deliver a message of solidarity with our Palestinian brothers and affirm that Palestine question is a top priority for all Arab nations,” he stressed.
Meanwhile, the Jordanian minister, who received Sheikh Salman and his delegation along with Kuwait Ambassador to Jordan Dr. Hamad Al-Du’aij, spoke highly of Sheikh Salman’s great role in promoting culture on the regional level.
He welcomed the visit to Jordan by Sheikh Salman, saying it will give momentum to the bilateral media ties and build in the outcome of the Arab Media Forum, held in Kuwait last week.
This will be the first time for Kuwait to take part in the Palestinian book fair.
The Kuwaiti delegation includes Deputy Chairman of KUNA Adnan Al-Rashed, Assistant Foreign Minister for the Arab Homeland Affairs Aziz Al-Dihani, Assistant Undersecretary of the Information Ministry Khaled Al-Rashidi and director of the technical office of the state ministry for youth Affairs Lana Abu-Eid as well as other intellectuals and media people.
