KUWAIT, May 4 (KUNA) — Minister of Public Works will sign the tender contract of the Kuwait International Airport Terminal 2 project within a month from being approved by the Cabinet, said the ministry’s undersecretary Awatef Al-Ghoneim.
This is came in a statement by Al-Ghoneim on Wednesday on the sidelines of inaugurating Building Festival (Baitak) 2016 held on May 4-9 under the auspices of the ministry.
The ministry held marathon meetings with Ministry of Finance with the aim of getting the funds needed for the ministry’s planned projects, she added.
Asked about the rise in reinforcing steel at local markets, she said prices of steel are mainly subject to prices at global markets, and to supply and demand, indicating that Ministry of Commerce and Industry is tasked with controlling prices.
Meanwhile, head of the exhibition Khaled Al-Hendi said in a similar statement that the festival is a distinguished event held in Kuwait in terms of its timing and kind.
He noted that organizing the event is part of Kuwait International Fair Company’s interest in the construction sector, which is one of the most prominent ones in the country.
The festival attracts different construction companies, contractors, engineers and workers in this field as well as citizens seeking to fulfil the construction process of their homes or plots of land, he made clear.
It also aims to promote sales of construction materials and commodities at competitive prices, he said.
It includes companies trading in construction materials like concrete, wood, steel, sand, ceramics and others, he pointed out. (end) mfs.msa.hm
