KUWAIT, May 2 (KUNA) — Board Chairman of Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) Sheikh Mubarak Duaij Al-Sabah said Monday Kuwait would always be a home for the intellectuals, and would remain a beacon for the responsible freedom of expression.
Sheikh Mubarak, also KUNA’s Director General, said Kuwait was a role model for civilization, media and culture as the country was celebrating its selection of the Islamic Culture Capital for 2016.
Sheikh Mubarak was addressing the final session of the Arab Media Forum on behalf of Information Minister and Minister of State for Youth Sheikh Salman Al-Sabah, as well as the honoring of Sheikha Dr. Suad Al-Sabah.
He said tonight witnessed the honoring of Sheikha Suad “who used her sword to defend her country and issues of her Arab nation by the strong words.” Sheikh Mubarak said Sheikha Suad, a poet, was proud of her Kuwaiti identity and belonging to its Arab world.
He said Sheikha Suad used her poems to defend Arab causes and call for unity among Arabs, and a staunch supporter of women and children.
Sheikha Suad vowed to use her poems to defend the just causes she believed worthy of her support.
She lamented the political turmoil in the Arab world but noted that “culture remains a way out of this black tunnel.” Sheikha Suad said the woman wrote poems “because poetry has all features of motherhood” to culture. (pickup previous) mdm.bs
