IS Al-Anbar, Iraq leader killed in coalition airstrike – Pentagon

WASHINGTON, May 9 (KUNA) — A US-led international coalition airstrike in Iraq has killed Islamic State Al-Anbar Province military Amir Abu Waheeb and three other members of the group, the Pentagon said on Monday.
Abu Waheeb, or Shaker Waheeb Al-Fahdawi, was killed along with another three IS members in a raid near Al-Rutba on May 6, according to spokesman Peter Cook.
He has appeared in IS executions videos, and is a former Al-Qaeda member, Cook told a press briefing.
“Abu Wahib’s death is another blow to IS’s leadership that will further degrade its ability to operate, especially in Anbar Province,” added Cook.
Also known as Shaker Waheeb Al-Fahdawi, he is the highest ranking member of the group in Iraq. (end) sd.gta
