Iraqi Prime Minister Announces Start of Mosul Liberation Operation

Baghdad, – Iraqi Prime Minister Haider Al Abadi has announced the start of a major offensive to retake the northern Mosul city from the ISIS group.

In a televised address Sunday night, the Iraqi premier said that the time of victory has come and operations to liberate Mosul from ISIS have started. He urged Mosul residents to cooperate with the liberating forces, emphasizing that only national Iraqi army and police forces will enter the city.

Al Abadi expressed full confidence that the ISIS would defeated and security and stability would be restored to Mosul soon. Mosul which is located in Nineveh is the country’s second biggest city and has been under the control of the ISIS since mid-2014.
