Int'l community deals with each of world crises separately – Ban

ISTANBUL, May 22 (KUNA) — The international community has dealt separately with world crises over the past seven years, UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon said Sunday.
The world is currently witnessing 17 crises, Ban said while meeting with a group of people from disaster-stricken countries on eve of the upcoming World Human Summit, in Istanbul.
The UN cannot deal with world disasters alone, he said, urging all countries and responsible organizations and bodies to show strong interest and determination in ending these crises.
The UN sponsored-Summit is expected to attract representatives from 155 world countries and international organizations. Fifty world leaders are expected to attend as well.
His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and his accompanying delegation arrived in the Turkish city earlier to take part in the event. (end)
