HMC WELCOMES SPONSORS FOR WORLD BLOOD DONOR DAY 2017 ACTIVITIES

Doha – Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) has announced the sponsors and supporters of its upcoming World Blood Donor Day (WBDD 2017) activities. WBDD, which falls on June 14, is being marked this year under the theme: “What can you do? Give blood. Give now. Give often.” The annual event is meant to express gratitude to donors who voluntarily give the gift of blood for no reason other than saving lives. It is also intended to boost awareness of safe blood and blood products and to shed light on the importance of blood donation as a life-saving solution for patients with life-threatening ailments.

The platinum sponsor for 2017 is the Social and Sports Activities Support Fund (Daam) and the gold sponsor is Qatar Gas, in addition to two silver sponsors: Qatar Petrochemical Company (Qapco) and Al Muftah Group.

Hamad Medical Corporation’s (HMC) Blood Donor Center Manager, Siddiqa Ismail Al-Mahmoudi, emphasized the importance of the annual event and expressed her gratitude and appreciation on behalf of HMC to all the sponsors of the WBDD 2017 celebration.

Local and regional guests as well as many senior officials and eminent guests will attend a WBDD 2017 gala dinner at the Al Dafna Ballroom in the Sheraton Grand Hotel on Tuesday, 23 May.

More than 200 voluntary blood donors, including individuals, national institutions, cultural and youth organizations that have positively contributed to the Blood Donor Center’s stock of blood and blood components will be recognized at the event.

“The Blood Donor Center, with the support of national institutions and companies, are working to create a pioneering community partnership in Qatar. We will organize the gala event to honor voluntary blood donors and create new cultural and educational programs and activities among various community sectors,” Ms. Al Mahmoudi said.

The Blood Donor Center has achieved excellence for the seventh year in a row by maintaining a 100 percent voluntary blood donation rate throughout the region.
