Doha, – The Ministry of Public Health issued on Tuesday a circular ordering all state ports to hold consignments of meat, poultry and their products originating from Brazil in all forms, and not to release them until samples are taken, analyzed and validated for human consumption to ensure they comply with relevant Gulf standards.

The circular was issued on the back of international media reports on corruption cases related to Brazilian foods that claimed illegal practices were done at some Brazilian cattle and poultry slaughterhouses that export to world countries, the ministry said in a press release.

As an additional precautionary measure, the ministry directed its inspectors to take samples from Brazilian meat in the domestic market to ensure their validity, the statement said, adding that the ministry will cooperate with relevant entities and take the necessary measures in light of any developments.
