GENEVA 5 START AS DE MISTURA MEETS CONFLICT PARTIES

Geneva, – The Fifth round of UN-brokered talks between rival sides in the Syrian conflict resumed in Geneva on Friday.

The United Nations Special Envoy for Syria, Staffan de Mistura, issued a statement on Thursday noting that all parties had arrived for the fifth round of intra-Syria talks. Geneva V comes a month after Mistura struggled to get assembled delegates to speak to each other.

Preliminary meetings of the Syrian negotiations started Thursday as the UN officials held meetings with the Syrian parties participating in the new negotiation round. (QNA)
