GCC DRUG PRICING COMMITTEE RECOMMENDS REVIEW OF MEDICINE PRICING RULES

Doha – The 32nd meeting of the GCC drug pricing committee recommended the review of pricing rules for medicines and the executive regulation for the pricing of medicines centrally in the GCC countries.

The meeting, hosted by the Ministry of Public Health, discussed over three days the ministerial and executive decisions and recommendations for the organization of its work, in addition to the comments provided by companies and the report of the GCC workshop on challenges and solutions held in Riyadh in March.

Director of the Pharmacy and Drug Control Department at the Ministry of Public Health Dr. Aisha Ibrahim Al Ansari stressed the importance of the meeting to discuss important issues that benefit the citizens and residents in the GCC countries in obtaining safe and effective medicine at reasonable prices.

She said that the Committee made significant achievements and contributed to the standardization and reduction of the prices of many medicines in the GCC countries, noting the great tasks of the Committee in the pricing of pharmaceuticals.
