JEDDAH, May 31 (KUNA) — The GCC Secretary General Abullatif Al-Zayani asserted Tuesday the importance of decisions reached in the 16th consultative meeting of the GCC leaders in Jeddah.
In a press statement, Al-Zayani said that such decisions would have a “huge positive outcome” on GCC integration in all fields, and challenges facing the region.
GCC chief added that GCC leaders discussed in their consultations GCC progress since the 36th higher council session, held in Riyadh last December, in addition to decision taken by member countries to implement joint work decisions and boosting integration in all areas.
Al-Zayahi noted that the consultative meeting reviewed the work progress for executing the Saudi King vision and bolstering GCC joint work, including approving GCC council recommendations for the year 2016.
The meeting also approved, based on such vision, a time-table to form a high level authority from all member countries to focus on development and economic affairs.
Al-Zayani added that the goal of this step was to strengthen bonding, integration, and coordination among member countries in issues related to development and economy.
Earlier, GCC member states held their 16th consultative meeting in Jeddah with His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah attending.
The just-several-hour closed-door meeting was presided over by Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud. (Pickup previous) yms.mb
