Foreign Minister Confirms Qatar’s Rejection of Interference with Its Foreign Policies

HE the Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani said that the State of Qatar rejects any interference with its foreign policies.

“The dispute between the State of Qatar and some Arab countries threatens the stability of the whole region,” HE the Foreign Minister told reporters explaining that diplomacy remains Doha’s preferred choice.

He stressed that the State of Qatar is not ready to surrender and will not compromise on the independence of its foreign policy, adding that the State of Qatar has never seen such hostility, not even from a hostile state.

On what was said to be the demands of the states which severed their relations with the State of Qatar, HE Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani said “There are no clear demands yet, and we are waiting,” adding that he does not expect any military escalation in the current crisis. He also affirmed that the deployment of the Qatari army in the country did not see any change and that no troops were re-deployed.

HE the Foreign Minister stressed that the Turkish forces coming to Qatar are for the benefit of the security of the whole region, adding that Qatar does not expect any change in the mandate of the US base in the country.

He stressed that the State of Qatar respects Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) agreements signed with the UAE.

HE the Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammad bin Abdulrahman al-Thani pointed that Iran had expressed its willingness to supply the country with foodstuffs and would allocate three of its ports for this purpose.
