Essebsi Meets Head of French Parliament’s Foreign Affairs Committee

Tunis, – Tunisian President Beji Caid Essebsi met on Friday with Elisabeth Guigou, head of the French National Assembly’s Foreign Affairs Committee, currently on a visit to Tunisia, for talks that touched on bilateral relations between the two countries.

During the meeting, Essebsi requested an additional support from European partners, particularly France, thanks to the “long-standing friendship and cooperation relations” with Tunisia, Tunisian state news agency TAP reported.

For her part, Guigou reaffirmed the commitment of France and the European Union (EU) to back Tunisia’s efforts to bring its democratic process to a conclusive end, ensure the success of its development programs and defeat tourism. She also reiterated Tunisia’s major role in the region to maintain peace and stability.
