Eight strikes hit IS in Syria, 17 in Iraq – coalition

WASHINGTON, May 8 (KUNA) — Coalition military forces continued to attack the so-called Islamic State (IS), conducting eight strikes against the group in Syria and 17 in Iraq, the Combined Joint Task Force announced on Sunday.
In Syria, the coalition air strikes targeted areas near Manbij, Mar’a, Palmyra and Waleed, destroying IS vehicles, fighting positions, tactical units, bed-down locations, and a storage facility, the announcement said.
Strikes in Iraq hit near Al Huwayjah, Bayji, Fallujah, Kisik, Mosul, Qayyarah, Sinjar, Sultan Abdallah and Tal Afar.
They targeted an IS a mortar positon, tactical units, mortar systems, vehicles, vehicle-borne improvised explosive device, four rockets, fighting positions, a heavy machine position and 10 rocket rail. (end) rm.msa
