KUWAIT, May 30 (KUNA) — The cabinet on Monday appreciated the role by the apparatus of finance controllers in tightening prior surveillance over financial practices that run counter to relevant laws and regulations, and in promoting financial and economic reforms.
This came during a customary weekly meeting held at Bayan Palace under chairmanship of His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah.
The cabinet made the appreciation while it discussed the agency’s report on the enforcement of Law No 23/2015 authorizing the establishment of the apparatus of finance controllers, Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah said in a statement following the meeting.
The cabinet, in this context, listened to a presentation by the chairman of the agency, Abdulaziz Al-Dahil, his deputy Bader Al-Hammad and other senior officials of the agency on efforts to develop the tools of safeguarding financial resources, improving the efficiency of performance and redressing imbalances, he said.
The ministers voiced much appreciation for all sincere efforts exerted in order to ensure law enforcement, the cabinet minister pointed out.
At the onset of the meeting, the cabinet was apprised of a message sent to His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah from Swedish Prime Minister Stefan Lofven aiming at developing bilateral cooperation and commending Kuwait’s humanitarian role.
The cabinet was informed about the delegation which will accompany His Highness the Amir during his visit to Saudi Arabia to attend the consultative summit of the GCC leaders due in Jeddah on Tuesday, wishing more security, stability and development in the GCC member states.
Afterwards, First Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah briefed the cabinet on the outcomes of the World Humanitarian Summit in Istanbul, during which His Highness the Amir called for reactivating humanitarian diplomacy with a view to alleviating the pains and woes of humanity and answering its needs, and urged the international community to attach more attention to the Syrian crisis.
Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled also kept the cabinet posted on the outcomes of the GCC-UK strategic dialogue meeting held in Jeddah on Sunday, which focused on cooperation between both sides in all fields and domains in order to fight the current regional and international challenges.
Finally, the ministers discussed several reports pertinent to the current political situations at both Arab and international levels. (end) mt
