ASHGHAL TO COMPLETE INFRASTRUCTURE FOR 10,000 LAND PLOTS BY 2021

Doha- President of the Public Works Authority Dr Eng. Saad bin Ahmed Al Muhannadi said today that the authority began offering infra-structure projects for citizens’ sub-divisions that will benefit 10,000 people.

The next three years will also see 400 land plots in 13 areas. Over the next five years, Al Muhannadi added, these areas will be capable of absorbing Qatar’s growing population. Work on these projects will include establishing 442 kilometers of road and 550 kilometer sanitary sewer system, as well as water and electricity networks by 2021. Al Muhannadi was speaking at a joint press conference with Kahramaa to present their plans to provide lands allocated to citizens’ sub-divisions.

During 2017, infrastructure of Al Wukair North and Al Mashaf West areas will be completed, which will serve 1829 land plots. In 2018, 2019, 2020, and 2021, infrastructure facilities will be completed to serve 1303, 2511, 2487 and 2270 land plots respectively.

Other projects will include 255 land plot in West of Abu Hamour / Ain Khalid, 280 land plot in South of Al Shahania, 216 land plot in West of Umm Slal, 592 land plot in Rawdat Egdaim and Izghawa, 461 land plot in North of Al Nassiriya, 619 land plot in Al Froosh / Al Kharaitiyat, 197 land plot in Al Kheesa among many others.

Al Muhannadi noted that the biggest challenge facing the authority in implementation is that the projects are linked together, something that would require coordination with all parties involved.

For his part, President of Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation (Kahramaa) Essa bin Hilal Al-Kuwari said they are constantly working on keeping up with the population growth by cooperating with different authorities to provide water and electricity services to different land plots.
