ASHGHAL IMPLEMENTS TRAFFIC DIVERSION ON LIJMILIYA ROAD

Doha, March 13 (QNA) – Public Works Authority (Ashghal) will divert traffic for a distance of 1 kilometer on Lijmiliya Road for two months starting Wednesday to enable the construction of a final 2.3 kilometer extension of road on the Al Sheehaniya Leatooriya Lijmiliya Road expressway project.

The Al Sheehaniya Leatooriya Lijmiliya Road expressway project is a new 31 kilometer expressway that will more efficiently link the regional towns of Al Sheehaniya, Leatooriya and Lijmiliya.

Once complete, the new expressway will enhance transport efficiency in rural Qatar by providing motorists with two lanes in each direction, which is double the vehicle capacity of the previous road. The project will simultaneously improve road safety through the installation of guard rails, street lighting and intelligent transport systems.

The minor road change will shift motorists to a parallel route that will provide road users with one lane in each direction.

Ashghal has requested all road users to abide by the speed limit and follow newly implemented traffic road signs to ensure their safety. (QNA)
