ASBU opens 12th annual festival

By Khaled Jabbar HAMMAMET, Tunisia, May 2 (KUNA) — Director General of the Arab States Broadcasting Union Abdulraheem Sulaiman opened Monday ASBU’s 12th annual festival in the Tunisian city of Hammamet, attended by Arab journalists, experts, actors and actresses.
Sulaiman said in his opening speech this year’s festival would include 170 pavilions compared to 130 last year, in addition to a number of workshops.
He said 233 radio and TV programs would be competing this year.
Yusuf Mustafa, Kuwait Information Ministry’s Assistant Undersecretary for TV Affairs, said all Arab journalists were looking forward for attending the festival.
Speaking to KUNA and Kuwait TV, Mustafa said Kuwait TV was keen on participating in this festival with hopes of winning as many awards as possible.
Saad Al-Fandi, Kuwait TV General Programs Department, said Kuwait radio has won four gold medals last year and came first on top of Arab radios.
