ASBU honors Kuwait Info. Min.

HAMMAMET, Tunisia, May 6 (KUNA) — The Arab States Broadcasting Union (ASBU) honored in a ceremony here Kuwait Minister of Information and Minister of State for Youth Affairs Sheikh Salman Sabah Al-Salem Al-Humoud Al-Sabah and a number of Arab ministers for their efforts in improving media.
The ceremony was attended by Kuwait Information Ministry Assistance Undersecretary for Media Planning and Development Affairs Mohammad Al-Awash, who received the award on behalf of Sheikh Salman at the concluding ceremony of the 17th ASBU-sponsored Arab Festival for Radio and Television.
ASBU also honored Sudanese Information Minister Ahmad Belal and Algerian Information Minister Hamid Qarin, among other Arab senior media officials.
Al-Awash told KUNA, “Such honoring to Sheikh Salman comes in recognition of his efforts in enhancing media development in the country.” Meanwhile, Kuwaiti media, represented by Radio and Television sectors, won a number of awards.
The ASBU festival hosts various activities, including contests for television and radio programs, workshops for media engineering, judging committees, and a media exhibition, Saleh Al-Shammari, director of operations, news coverage and satellite communication department at Kuwait TV (KTV), told KUNA.
The festival provides an opportunity to learn and benefit from the expertise of prominent Arab and international media figures taking part in the event, Al-Shammari said, noting that KTV is currently competing in various contests at the festival through several programs and projects in the categories of documentary, talk shows and investigative news.
