Arab- European Ministerial Meeting Concludes with Qatar Participation

Cairo, The Fourth Arab-European Ministerial meeting concluded this evening at the headquarters of the General Secretariat of the Arab League, Qatar’s delegation to the meeting was headed by HE Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Sultan bin Saad Al Muraikhi.

The ministers in the final communique of the meeting underlined the importance of strengthening cooperation and strategic dialogue, calling for the development of European-Arab relations by proposing different mechanisms for cooperation in all fields and at all levels.

The Ministers proposed to organize a European- Arab summit periodically to reaffirm the desire of both sides to strengthen relations between them, and give strategic guidance for cooperation between the Arab League and the European Union .

They noted the importance of the launch of the strategic dialogue between the Arab League and the European Union, which would contribute to exchanges of views on political and security issues. It also covered several areas of cooperation, such as early warning, conflict prevention, crisis response, humanitarian assistance, counter-terrorism, the fight against organized crime and the prohibition of weapons of mass destruction.

On human rights, terrorism and immigration, the ministers reaffirmed the lofty principles of the rule of law, good governance, security, respect for human rights and democracy.
