ALGERIAN ARMY ARRESTS 2 DRUG TRAFFICKERS IN SECURITY OPERATION

Algiers, – Two drug traffickers were intercepted and 250 kilograms of cannabis resin were seized Wednesday by a detachment of the Algerian army and units of the national gendarmerie in Tlemcen, the Ministry of National Defense said Thursday in a statement carried by state news agency APS.

In Tamanrasset and Ain Guezzam, army detachments arrested eight smugglers and seized one truck, 2 all-terrain vehicles, 3,600 liters of fuel, 24 jackhammers and 27 generators, while 40 quintals of tobacco were seized in Al Oued, the statement added.

Additionally, border guards units thwarted in Oran and Ain Temouchent attempts at illegal immigration of 28 people aboard hand-made crafts, while 32 illegal immigrants from various nationalities were detained in Tlemcen, Ouargla and Ghardaia. (QNA)
