Aiming to become a regional and global business platform, the Qatar Financial Centre (QFC) has taken several measures to boost the Qatari economy, its CEO Yousuf Mohammed Al Jaida has said.

During a tour organized by QFC to introduce its services recently, Al Jaida said QFC has been working on a number of initiatives, the most important of which is the decision to move the Centre to the new Financial City in Msheireb Downtown Doha (MDD) in 2019.

QFC subsidiaries, licensed companies and other financial institutions will also move to MDD, establishing a new financial and attractive business hub in Qatar, Al Jaida noted.

Unlike other financial zones in the region, this new Financial City will be open to all businesses, local and international, and will not be restricted to QFC-licensed firms only. As such, it will be closer to other international financial and business districts, he added.

Al Jaida further pointed out that the number of companies in QFC reached 410 with direct investment volume estimated at QR75 billion.
