Ramallah, – Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas is due to meet with German Chancellor Angela Merkel in Berlin on Friday, his office in Ramallah confirmed.

“It is not like any normal or routine visit,” Foreign Minister Riyad al-Malki told the Voice of Palestine radio on Wednesday. Rather, this meeting “is very important and it will be watched with big interest,” he added.

Abbas will also meet Germany’s new president, Frank-Walter Steinmeier, lawmakers and leaders from the Arab and Palestinian community, according to the radio report. (QNA)
