80 MINERS TRAPPED AFTER MINE EXPLOSION IN NORTHERN IRAN

Tehran, – An explosion struck a coal mine in northern Iran in Golestan Province on Wednesday, trapping around 80 miners.

Pirhossein Koulivand, the head of Iran’s emergency services, said that the number of trapped miners may be much higher, with 40 trapped in one section, and 30-40 in the other section, Fars News Agency reported.

The cause of the accident is not yet known, and rescue teams continue their efforts to rescue and rescue the stranded and injured.

Over 500 miners work at Azadshahr coal mine, 14 km away from Azadshahr city and 90 km east of Gorgan, the capital city of Golestan Province. (QNA)
