6.3-magnitude Earthquake Hits Eastern Japan

Tokyo, Eastern Japan was rocked by a 6.3-magnitude earthquake on Wednesday, according to seismologists.

There was no risk of a tsunami in the wake of the tremor, according to Japanese broadcaster NHK, and no reports of deaths or damage.

The earthquake, which occurred at a depth of 10 kilometres late on Wednesday, hit the same north-eastern province of Ibaraki where 18,500 were killed by a massive tsunami after a 9.0-magnitude earthquake nearly six years ago
