27 INJURED AS BUILDING COLLAPSES IN SRI LANKA’S CAPITAL

Colombo – At least 27 people were injured after a five-storey building collapsed in Sri Lankan capital Colombo on Thursday and police and the army were search for survivors.

The five-storeyed building in the Wellawatta area of Colombo collapsed while construction labourers were working at the site.

“We are continuing the search as fellow workers say there are three people trapped within the premises,” a police officer at the scene said.

No deaths were reported, but some of the workers suffered serious injuries.
