Video art and pop music, nudes in Turkish painting explored at Pera Museum

“This Is Not a Love Song: Video Art and Pop Music Crossovers,” opening on Wednesday at the museum’s temporary exhibit halls, traces the occasions in which video art and experimental film crossed paths with pop music from the 1960s to the present day. The selection features the work of 28 artists including Nam June Paik, Andy Warhol, Yayoi Kusama, Vito Acconci and John Baldessari.

The museum’s second show going on public display on Wednesday is “Bare, Naked, Nude: A Story of Modernization in Turkish Painting,” which aims to uncover the stages of cultural transformation art in Turkey went through as the country made the transition from a crumbling empire to a modern republic.
