Uzbekistan invites Azerbaijani firms to invest in special economic zones

The Uzbek government has invited the Azerbaijani companies to cooperate in the country’s Navoi, Angren and Dzizak special economic zones.

The news was announced by Azerbaijan Export and Investment Promotion Foundation (AZPROMO) on May 27.

The Azerbaijani entrepreneurs interested in implementation of projects can obtain the necessary information from AZPROMO, the foundation said.

The Navoi special economic zone with ​​over 500 hectares of territory was established in 2008. In 2012, the second — Angren special economic zone — was commissioned in the Tashkent region. In March 2013, the third — Dzizak special economic zone was launched.

All of these three special economic zones are designed for 30 years with the possibility of extension. Uzbekistan applies tax, visa, foreign exchange and trade regime benefits in the territories of Navoi, Angren and Dzizak.

The trade turnover between Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan amounted to $19.2 million in January-April 2014. Goods worth $11.67 million were exported to Uzbekistan while the import from Uzbekistan amounted to $7.53 million in the reported period.

In 2013, the trade turnover between the two countries amounted to $21.45 million.
