Uzbek president arrives in Shanghai

TAIKENT (CIHAN)- Uzbek President Islam Karimov has arrived in China today to attend a meeting of the fourth summit of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA), the Uzbek national news agency (UzA) reported on May 20.

Chinese officials solemnly greeted President Karimov at the Hongqiao international airport, Shanghai City.

A meeting of the fourth CICA summit will be held on May 21. A bilateral meeting is planned to be held between President Karimov and President Jinping. They will discuss the priority targets of the strategic partnership and issues of intensifying multifaceted cooperation between the two countries.

The Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA) is a multi-national forum for enhancing cooperation towards promoting peace, security and stability in Asia.

At present, the meeting unites 24 countries. Nine countries and four international organizations are CICA observers.
