U.S. Deputy Secretary of State to hold consultations in Tashkent

TAIKENT (CIHAN)- U.S. Deputy Secretary of State William Burns will pay a working visit to Uzbekistan to hold bilateral consultations, the Uzbek foreign ministry said on May 6.

Burns will discuss the issues of mutual interest, namely, the situation in Afghanistan, regional policy, economic issues and humanitarian aspects with representatives of the country’s leadership in Tashkent on May 6-7, according to the U.S. State Department.
Burns also plans to meet with the Uzbek media and civil society representatives.

As U.S. Undersecretary of State for Political Affairs, Burns visited Uzbekistan in July 2009 and June 2012.
The previous round of bilateral Uzbek-U.S. political consultations was held in Washington in December 2013. (CihanTrend az)
