U.S. Co-Chair Warlick has no right to recommend other organizations regarding Karabakh settlement – Foreign Ministry

Baku: As the co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group have not achieved even slight progress in the settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, US co-chair James Warlick has no right and reason to advise and make any recommendations on the settlement to other organizations, Hikmat Hajiyev, spokesman for the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry, said on Nov.6.

He made the remarks commenting on Warlick’s statement on the PACE Committee draft resolution on the report by Robert Walter, rapporteur for the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.

“What the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs have done so far is close to zero. If so, there is no need for other organizations that are trying to help settle the conflict to consult with the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs,” Hajiyev said.

On the contrary, the co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group, in particular James Warlick need to follow goals and principles of relevant resolutions of UN Security Council and the General Assembly, documents of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, Non-Aligned Movement, Organization of Islamic Cooperation and other international organizations regarding the conflict settlement and consult with these organizations, he added.

“Such ineffective activity of the OSCE Minsk Group is in the interests of Armenia, continuing the aggressive policy and striving to maintain the status quo,” Hajiyev said, noting that it is not excluded that Warlick is an integral element of the plan that is serving the continuation of the aggressive policy of Armenia.
