U.S. attaches importance to partnership with Azerbaijan

Baku: The US attaches importance to the partnership with Azerbaijan, US Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs Bridget Brink told reporters in Baku.

Bridget said she visited Azerbaijan as an official of the State Department six years ago.

“The U.S. intends to continue the current extensive cooperation with Azerbaijan. This cooperation covers the fields of economy, energy, democracy, human rights, and security. I was appointed to this post in October of this year. I plan to deepen the existing US-Azerbaijani cooperation in various areas,” Brink said.

The U.S. official mentioned that they had fruitful meetings in Azerbaijan.

“We met with the Azerbaijani president, foreign minister, members of political parties and civil societies. We decided to increase our efforts to deepen and expand the US-Azerbaijani cooperation, and to carried out joint activity. Each issue in this cooperation is important to us. For example, the strengthening of democracy and human rights means stronger civil society. Free media and opposite forces of various kinds are represented in such society,” she said.
