Two police officers injured during attack in İstanbul

A group of unknown assailants opened fire to police vehicles in İstanbul’s Gaziosmanpasa district, which left two police officers injured on early Sunday.

The incident took place at around 1 a.m. in Kazimkarabekir neighborhood. Reportedly, two police vehicles stopped a car for control. Suddenly, five people in the vehicle began to shot at the officers and escaped the scene quickly.

The police vehicles were damaged in the attacks and two of the officers were injured in the leg. The road where the attack occurred was closed to traffic temporarily for an inspection. The injured were taken to a nearby hospital and reported to be in good condition.

Police launched a detailed search to find the assailants.
