Turkish Parliament Speaker visits Moldavia

KIIINEV (CIHAN)- Parliament Speaker Cemil iek paid his first visit to Moldavia.

Arriving in capital city of Kishinev on Thursday, iek was welcomed by his Moldavian counterpart Igor Corman.
Corman and iek held a press conference after the meeting behind closed doors. During the press conference, Moldavian speaker expressed his gratitude for iek’s visit. Corman also said that visa exemption agreement between Moldavia and Turkey will be put into effect as of June 3rd. Meanwhile, Moldavian citizens will be able to travel within Schengen zone without visa after June 28th.

Speaking at the press conference, Cemil iek thanked to his counterpart for his hospitality. iek stressed that Turkey appreciates Moldavia’s strong will on integration to European Union (EU) with it’s territorial integrity and sovereignty.

“We hope during Moldavia’s EU integration autonomy status of Gagauz region will not be corroded,” Turkish speaker underlined.

iek is also expected to visit Gagauz autonomous region and Romania in further days.
