Turkish army conducts large-scale military exercises Efes-2014

IZMIR (CIHAN)- Turkish Armed Forces (TSK) has began its wide-range military drill with the code name of EFES-2014 on Wednesday in DoIanbey gulf of southwestern province of Izmir’s Seferhisar district.

On the second day of the actual firing exercises, Prime Minister Recep Tayyip ErdoIan, Defense Minister Ismet YIlmaz and Chief of Staff General Necdet zel observed the performance of Turkish military units. Along with Turkish governmental and military officials, 51 foreign military observers watched the drill as well.

The action plan of the army units within the scope of the drill were planned according an appropriate scenario which assumes an armed conflict between hypothetical two countries.

The aim of large scale exercises which is being conducted with the participation of 8500 soldiers, is to make troops and garrisons gain the ability of operating jointly and increase their level of training. Turkish Military’s all units such as air, naval and land forces commands are taking part actively at the drill.

Exercises will end following the cleansing of the area which was polluted by chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear materials.
