Turkey summons Russian envoy over bombing of Turkmens in Syria, PM says

Turkey has summoned Russiaand’s ambassador in protest at the andquotintensiveandquot bombing of Turkmen villages in northern Syria by Russian warplanes, Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoilu told reporters on Friday.
Davutoilu said the attacks late on Thursday targeted civilians and that Turkey has information that Russian warplanes took part in the offensive.
andquotThe Russian ambassador was summoned to the Foreign Ministry at night. He was told in clear terms that if Russia is fighting against Daesh [Arabic acronym for the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant, or ISIL] then it should target Daesh,andquot Davutoilu said in Ankara. andquotIf a new wave of refugees emerges because of massacre-like attacks on civilians that would push civilians towards Turkey, then everyone who has contributed to this will be [deemed] responsible.andquot
The Turkish Foreign Ministry said in a separate statement that the attacks targeting civilian Turkmen villages andquotcould lead to serious consequences,andquot and called for an immediate end to the operation.
