Humanity missing in your ‘nature’He [Prime Minister Recep Tayyip ErdoIan] yelled loudly in rallies, saying, “We do not talk, we build.” He used to enthusiastically talk about bridges, airports, double-lane highways, towers, housing complexes and new projects. He used to provide business to his political supporters through privatization projects, outsourcing and the exploitation of labor, which he made the basic elements of his centralized economy. He was not at all disturbed by “his projects” being built at the cost of people’s lives. He did not seem to care about the high death tolls of labor accidents, which are almost similar to the number of deaths in war zones. The lack of safety measures was not an issue of debate for his government. These were “natural” incidents which should not bother people. … If you [the government officials] take no responsibility, we should remind you that what is in the “nature” of your seats is resignation. If 300 deaths occurred in Soma over the course a year, it would not even be on the news. How many people know that three workers on average die every day in Turkey? Pelin Cengiz, Taraf
