Galatasaray hosts Banvit in Game 3, semi series even at 1-1Last season’s finalists, Galatasaray Liv Hospital and Banvit, are set for their fourth clash in the semifinals of the men’s Beko Turkish Basketball League (TBL)hampionship playoffs at Abdi Ipeki Arena in Istanbul on Wednesday.The first two games were played in BalIkesir last week, and Banvit squared the deal by winning the second match on Sunday night.

Galatasaray returned to Istanbul with an aantageous result thanks to its road victory in the first encounter The two sides will face off in Istanbul in the next two matches this week.The team that wins three games will make it to the finals for the second consecutive season.

Should no team clinch two victories in Istanbul, a fifth match to determine the finalist is set to be played at Banvit’s venue, and the BandIrma team will reclaim the home court aantage in that case.Dimitris Itoudis’ Banvit finished the regular season as the leaders, with only two defeats, and beat a distracted Galatasaray in both their encounters.

The Istanbul side was too busy this season, as it was battling on two fronts, the domestic league and the topnotch Euroleague. After bowing out of the European tournament in the quarterfinals, defending champion Galatasaray is totally focused on the league and now seeks to clinch another TBL trophy.

Coach Ergin Ataman’s men will definitely feel more confident in the next two games in front of their home crowd. The Istanbul giant enjoys great support in its home games and is likely to see a festive crowd in Wednesday’s match.

Ataman’s strongest weapons against Banvit will be Puerto Rican guard Carlos Arroyo and Turkish guard Sinan Guler The duo were the top scorers of their side in both Banvit games on the road. Banvit coach Itoudis will rely on Bulgarian point guard EJ Rowland and American-Azeri forward Chuck Davis in Istanbul.

Galatasaray cruised past Banvit 79-62 with a comeback in the first match of the series to take a 1-0 lead last Friday. Banvit brought the series to 1-1 by beating Galatasaray with a slight margin, 69-67.
