Energy Market Regulatory Agency restructuredThe Energy Market Regulatory Agency (EPDK) has been restructured to include two vice presidents, among other changes that went into effect after being published in the Official Gazette on Sunday.The EPDK, which was established in 2001 as an agency to supervise and regulate the energy markets, previously only had one vice president. Under the new guidelines, the Electricity Markets Application Office and the Electric Markets Regulatory, Monitory and Assessment departments will be united under the same roof, as well as the relevant natural gas departments.The electric and natural gas departments will work to ensure protection of consumer rights and will examine relevant complaints, according to the Official Gazette.Within the scope of the new changes, the financial department of the agency will be removed, and separate departments for the oil markets, liquefied petroleum markets, fees, expropriation, legal, strategic development, human resources, and media and public relations have been set up.The newly created Electricity Markets Department will monitor the activities of individuals and legal entities in the electricity market, undertaking and reporting audits when necessary to the audits department of the EPDK.
